Rounders Festival at Soar Valley
On Wednesday 26th June, we took 10 children in Year 6 to Soar Valley to part in the annual Rounders Festival.
From the moment, the children were collected, you could see how excited they were.
When we arrived at Soar Valley, we were welcomed by 12 students in Year 10 studying Sports Studies who hosted and officiated the event.
Each game was played and scored as per the rules of England Rounders!!!
Taylor Road were exceptional, they showed outstanding:
Batting
Fielding including catching:
Bowling
Teamwork
Resilience
Each school played each other once.
Results as follows:

Taylor Road advanced to the final v Mellor Primary
Taylor Road won the toss and decided to Bat first. Taylor Road scored 4 Rounders in 12 'Good Balls'.
Mellor needed 4 and half Rounders to win!!!!!
It was an amazing fielding display; Taylor were everywhere stopping Mellor from scoring.
It came to ball 12 and Mellor needed 1 Rounder to win. Keon bowled and excellent ball and great fielding from Halima G in 6CS stopped them from scoring!!!
Taylor were crowned Rounders Champions for 2024!!!!

Year 6 Rounders Festival at Soar Valley
Cricket Match with Catherine Junior School
On Tuesday 25th June, We were delighted to welcome children in Years 5 and 6 from Catherine Junior School to take part in a Cricket March.
The sun was beating down on our ball court with both schools really excited to get started.
One student from Catherine, entered onto playground and said - 'wow this school is so big!!!!
Once both teams had a quick warm up, both captains came to the middle for the toss, which was won by Taylor Road who elected to bowl first.
The game started; Catherine Juniors made a slow start as the opening bowlers for Taylor Road gave no boundaries away.
Catherine then started to take a few more risks and the runs started to flow. At the break Catherine scored 55 runs.
Taylor Road needed 56 to win.
Taylor got off to a flying start with Keon in 6CS and Hamzah in 5MS hitting plenty of boundaries. After 3 overs, Taylor were 28 for 1
Taylor did not slow up with marched to their Target of 56 with still 1 over remaining.
Taylor Road came out winners!!!!!

Cricket match with Catherine Junior School
National School Sports Week 2024
During the week of Monday 17th June - Friday 21st June, millions of children across the UK have been celebrating National School Sports Week.
This Year the Youth Sport Trust and Sport England wished for every child to participate in 60 Active Minutes and the focus this Year was celebrating Euro 2024 Football Championships in Germany.
Here at Taylor Road the children have been so excited:
Each class is following a National Team
Each class will learn about their country in Geography
Each class will learn their country's National Anthum as part of Music
Each class in PE will be partipating in a Football Style Lesson.
Taylor Road recieved a message from the Youth Sport Trust and it said:
''We're so glad that Taylor Road is celebrating with us''

Year 5 & 6 Cricket Tournament at Soar Valley College
On Wednesday 12th June, we took 8 children to Soar Valley for a Year 5/6 Cricket Festival.
The children looked fantastic in their cricket uniform - just like professional cricketers.
The children were super excited and ready to put their skills into action.
The children were fantastic showing great ability in Batting, Bowling and Fielding.
The children, supported so well led by our captain Keon in 6CS
Congratulations to Taylor Road who came in 1st place and won the entire tournament.
We are super proud of you!!!!

Year 5 & 6 Cricket Tournament at Soar Valley College
Year 3/4 DG Football Tournament at Shenton
On Wednesday 5th June, we took 10 children to Shenton Primary School to take part in a annual Football Tournament.
As the children arrived to school, they were so excited with big smiles on their faces in anticipation on what was to come.
When we arrived, you could see the children eager to get going and get warmed up.
Mr Ruparelia had a quick tactical meeting with the players to confirm which positions they would be playing in.
Mr Ruparelia was so impressed with their listening, and following instructions first time.
The standard of football was fantastic, children not afraid to put in the tackles, playing with freedom and desire with a clear commitment to win and do their best.
We are extremely proud of the children who represented Taylor Road and Mr Ruparelia is fully aware that there is so much more to come in the future.
Congratulations to Sparkenhoe Primary School who were the eventual winners, winning by just by a single goal to Taylor Road who came runners up.

Year 5 and 6 Football Friendly Match v Barley Croft
On Tuesday 4th June, Taylor Road Primary School were delighted to welcome Barley Croft Primary School for a Year 5 and 6 mixed Football Match.
We were greeted in reception by a student from Barley Croft saying to Mr Ruparelia, 'gee this school is awesome'.
All the children were extremely excited and could not wait for the game to start.
Taylor Road kicked off first and the game commenced it was end to end football with both sides giving their all.
Then we were welcomed by heavy rain, however this did not stop the children at all. They were loving the conditions.
Taylor led at the break 4-2.
At the start of the 2nd half, Barley Croft came out of the blocks much quicker, creating chance after chance and took one of them, making it 4-3.
Taylor Road hit back to make it 5-3!
Both schools kept creating chances and it was Barley croft who scored to make it 5-4.
Some lovely one touch passing from Taylor with the best move of the game made it, 6-4
However in the last 3mins of the game and pressure put on the Taylor defence, it was Barley Croft who scored 2 late goals and the game finished 6-6.
What an incredible game of football and credit to both sides for a lasting memory.

Dodgeball Festival at Soar Valley College
On Wednesday 17th April 2024, we took 8 children in Year 5 to Soar Valley to take part in a Dodegball Festival.
The children jumped on the minibus very excited in anticipation and were already planning their strategy to win.
When we arrived to Soar Valley, we were welcomed by Year 10 BTEC Sports Leaders. They took part in a Dodgeball warm up then to competition began.
Each school played one another twice.
The children were magnificent and played so well together as team. No one gave up and the resilience was clearly to see.

Lost 2
Taylor Road finished in 2nd place.

Year 5 Dodge Ball Festoval at Soar Valley College
Primary Stars football competition - Final
On Wednesday 24th January, we took our Year 5 and 6 boys to Leicester City's Training Ground for the Final of the Primary Stars Competiton.
Competing were the 8 best schools across within the city and county.
When the kids arrived in morning to school, they were super excited, a sense of anticipation knowing they were going to a purpose built multi million pound complex.
Once the children arrived, they warmed up and were ready for action. Every game was super competitive, they boys gave everything and were against extremely technical and tactical teams.
Taylor Roaf finished 4th in our group and unfortunately did not qualify for the Semi-Final.
The boys can be proud of their journey to get where they did and we at Taylor Road are super proud of them.

Leicester Riders Development night
On Wednesday 10th January 2024, we took 15 Year 6 children to the Morningside Arena to take part in a Leicester Riders Development Night with Whitehall Primary School.
The night, involved:
Being coached by Specialist Coaches on the main Leicester Riders Court
Watching a professional game between the Leicester Riders v Manchester Giants
A photo opportunity with the players after the game.
Food provided by the arena
The night was hugely successful with:
Children making new friends
2 communities coming together
Families enjoying the experience and the powerful message of School Sport with a Professional Club.
Community Cohesion at its best.
