A. SATs Are Statutory

  • KS2 SATs are mandatory for almost all Year 6 pupils
  • Attendance during SATs week is expected and important
  • Holidays will not normally be authorised

This is set out in STA guidance for parents.

B. What SATs Do (and Do Not) Affect

  • SATs measure attainment against the national curriculum
  • Results are one piece of information about a child’s learning
  • SATs do not determine secondary school places

C. Special Consideration and Access Arrangements

  • Reasonable adjustments and access arrangements are available where appropriate
  • Decisions are made by the school in line with STA guidance
  • Parents will be informed if this applies to their child

D. Teacher Assessment and Results Sharing

  • Writing and science are assessed by teacher judgement
  • Results are shared with parents before the end of the summer term
  • Results are also transferred to secondary schools
